Rt. Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden
Andrew was born on 23rd of October 1957 in Takoradi to Opanyin Kobina Obo and Madam Nana Ekua Yamoawah, both natives of Abura Gyabankrom near Abura Dunkwa in the Central Region of Ghana.
The Rt. Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden worked with the Bank for six years and by his third year in the Bank he had completed the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) Examinations.
Being hardworking and studious, Andrew was rising rapidly in the Bank but he had to give it up to respond to the call of his maker into full time Ministry with the Methodist Church Ghana.
AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF THE BISHOP
FAMILY BACKGROUND
Andrew was born on 23rd of October 1957 in Takoradi to Opanyin Kobina Obo and Madam Nana Ekua Yamoawah, both natives of Abura Gyabankrom near Abura Dunkwa in the Central Region of Ghana.
EARLY EDUCATION
Between 1964-1974, he had his basic Education at Nkontompo and Kweikuma (all near Sekondi). He continued his education at Koforidua Technical Institute from 1974-1978 and then from 1978-1980 at the Takoradi Polytechnic.
In 1981, Andrew gained employment at the Cocoa Processing Company at Takoradi where he worked for four years. Whilst there, he wrote the G.C.E. O and A Level Examinations with tuition from Takoradi workers College, and passed impressively. With that, he joined the National Savings and Credit Bank (which was later merged with the Social Security Bank). The Rt. Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden worked with the Bank for six years and by his third year in the Bank he had completed the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) Examinations.
CALL TO MINISTRY
Being hardworking and studious, Andrew was rising rapidly in the Bank but he had to give it up to respond to the call of his maker into full time Ministry with the Methodist Church Ghana. He candidate and gained admission to the Trinity Theological Seminary in 1990. He came out with a Diploma in Theology awarded by the University of Ghana, Legon. In his final year in Trinity Theological Seminary, he served as the Vice President of the Students’ Representative Council (S.R.C).
WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE CHURCH AND FURTHER EDUCATION
On completing his course at Trinity in 1993, Andrew was commissioned and posted to Akyem Asene in the Akyem Oda Diocese. He served a three-year probation after which he was ordained in 1996 at the Ebenezer Methodist Cathedral, Winneba.
After his fourth year of Ministry at Akyem Asene (his first station), he gained admission back to University of Ghana and Trinity Theological Seminary to pursue a three-year Bachelor of Arts Degree Course in 1997. He passed out in the year 2000 with First Class Honours in Psychology and Study of Religions. Not only that, he was adjudged, in the same year, by the Trinity Theological Seminary as the Overall best graduation student as well as the student with the best pastoral character and ministerial disposition.
Whilst in the University, Andrew served as an Assistant Minister at the Trinity United Church, Legon, under very seasoned ministers like The Rt. Rev. Prof. Jospeh O.Y Mante, The Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante and The Rev. Dr. Cyril Fayose. From the University, he was stationed at the Good Shepherd Methodist Society in the North Kaneshie Circuit of the Accra Diocese as a second Minister. The Rt. Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden was at Good Shepherd Society for one year and by the Grace of God, he was appointed Superintendent Minister in August 2001 and posted to Awoshie Circuit in the Accra Diocese.
In 2004 he was posted to the Trinity United Church as a full time Resident Minister where he served until 2007. Whilst serving in Trinity United Church, Andrew was given an additional responsibility of Superintending over the New Achimota Circuit (between 2006 – 2007). In 2007, the Methodist Church Ghana Conference decided that he moved fully to the New Achimota Circuit as the substantive Superintendent Minister and he served the Circuit for an additional five years.
In the year 2012, Andrew graduated with a Master’s Degree from the University of Cape Coast. In the same year (2012) he was transferred to the Adweso Circuit in the Koforidua Diocese as the Superintendent Minister. He served Adweso Circuit for three years after which he was posted in 2015 to the Nsukwao Circuit where he served as Superintendent Minister.
In the year 2016, The Rt. Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden was posted to the Kaneshie North Circuit in the Accra Diocese as Superintendent Minister. In October 2018, after he had served the Kaneshie North Circuit for two years, he was appointed Secretary of Synod of the newly created Northern Accra Diocese and posted to the Adenta Circuit as Superintendent Minister in addition to his duty as Secretary of Synod.
In 2020, he was set aside as a separated Secretary of Synod and attached to the Christ The King Society in the Madina Circuit. Later in 2022, he was also attached to the Maranatha Society in the Ashale Botwe Circuit, where he currently oversees.

OTHER SERVICES TO THE CHURCH
From 2006-2007, The Rt. Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden served the Accra Diocese as the Assistant Daily Record Secretary and as the Daily Record Secretary of the Accra Diocese from 2007-2012. Around the same period from 2008-2012, he served as Secretary to the Accra Diocesan Fellowship of the Kingdom (F.K). He also served as the Chaplain for the Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowship, Accra Diocese from 2009-2012.
Andrew also served the Methodist Church Ghana as the Recorder to the General Purposes Council (GPC) from 2008-2012 and as the Secretary to the Connexional Fellowship of the Kingdom from 2013-2016.
In the Koforidua Diocese he served as the Daily Record Secretary for the year 2014 and as a Member of the Synod Business Committee from 2013-2016.
From 2016-2018, he served as the Chairman, Campus Ministry Team, Accra Diocese and successfully led the team to draft the Campus Ministry Policy for the Church.
From 2020-2023, he has served as Conference/Expanded GPC Letter Writer for the Methodist Church Ghana.
PUBLICATIONS
The Rt. Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden is the author of the following books:
- Worship and Discipleship Handbook (published in 2016)
- Reflections on the Journey from Lent to Easter (published in 2018)
- Many other unpublished Articles and papers, some of which he is currently working on for publication
Andrew was one of the writers of the Lent Devotional Booklets produced by the Accra Diocese which was introduced in 2017.

MARRIAGE AND MINISTRY INTEREST
Andrew’s interest in the Ministry lies in Biblical Teaching, Evangelism and Discipleship. He is married to Rebecca, a native of Apam and a former staff of GCB Bank Ltd. In their 31 years of ministry, God has used them to start many Churches; some in Asene Circuit in the Akim Oda Diocese, some in Awoshie Circuit and New Achimota Circuit all in the Northern Accra Diocese, some in Adweso Circuit and Nsukwao Circuit, all in the Koforidua Diocese. God has also used them to bring several people to the saving knowledge of Christ.
CHILDREN
The Lord has blessed them with the following children: Joseph, Andrew Jnr., Benedict, Christian, Gifty and many other children they have raised.
